IFA testing

The hospital provides assistance and treated patients with acute respiratory disease COVID-19, caused by coronavirus SARS COV-2 light and moderate severity. For the purpose of timely and differential diagnostics on the COVID-19 institution purchased and commissioned the apparatus of the IFA LABLINE-90.

Now it is possible to give an IFA test (IGM, IgG) on the COVID-19 in our laboratory. The capacity of the IFA LABLINE-90 device, in the presence of required reagents 180 analyzes per day. The results of analyzes can be obtained within 1 day after blood collection. In some cases, if necessary, this term may be reduced to 2-3 hours.

What should be aware of the tests of immunoassay analysis (IFA tests) on COVID-19 and PCR

Detection of the COVID-19 virus (SARS-COV-2)

Diagnostic methods can be divided into two main groups:

  • Those that allow to identify the presence of a virus in an organism - a polymer-chain reaction (PCR);
  • The method of laboratory study, by which the immune response to virus infection - immuno-enzyme analysis (IFA)

Immuno-enzyme analysis (IgM, IgG) detects a complex of antigen-antibodies that are produced when the body is affected by the virus. The method of IFA testing determines the immunoglobulins of two types - M and G. Immunoglobulins m indicate the existence of an active immune response, that is, that a person is currently ill for coronavirus infection. Immunoglobulins G, in turn, mean that a person is already overflowed or infected with a virus, so it has developed antibodies to this disease.

An IFA test detects an immune response to a virus - the level of antibodies.

Who do IFA testing?

  • IFA testing can be carried out by patients:with symptoms COVID-19
  • patients with pneumonia
  • contact persons
  • to persons in need of planned hospitalization and / or surgery
  • medical workers who work with patients with COVID-19
  • Workers of laboratories that process samples on COVID-19
  • Employees of pathological anatomical, forensic medical bureaus, branches involved in the auto of the body, including taking samples of sectional material
  • Employees of the National Police, National Guard, State Border Guard Service
  • other medical and pharmaceutical workers

If IFA testing will detect an antibody in a patient, such a patient will provide a sample for PCR diagnostics.

The use of IFA tests to detect the COVID-19 antibodies regulated by the Order of MOH of 20.05.2020 No. 1227 "On Approval of Amendments to Medical Aid Standards" Coronavirus Disease "(COVID-19).
